Urban Decay

Urban Decay
Urban Decay, Girgaum Chowpatty, Mumbai

Chowpatty at Girgaum, Mumbai could have been a neat beach, but for the filth all around. You can see the plastic all over. Some of this is remains of the Durga Puja and Dussera, hindu festivals where large statues of dieties are immersed in water, bring along with huge mass of humanity as well. But then Mumbai, most of it is rapidly decaying under the ever increasing human mass. We can atleast do something - say NO to plastics.

Great picture with a much needed message. Say NO TO PLASTIC! I wonder why people would do this to a public place when they keep their own places spic and span...

But this is WOW. especially love the father daughter bit... the neon light is quite distracting though..

Ah finally Mayank...was waiting for this series to start:)  Nice colours! And love the father hunched over the kid by the ocean on the left.  Look forward to some of your people shots as well.

A typical Mayank shot. Appreciated the presence of people in it  -- for without them, there would be no decay in the first place. A  point well made.

@cloudnine - probably our culture. Clean our homes, but beyond our walls, we do not care. Maybe.

@georgie - I did not intend to really shoot the muck. You are right, I loved the view but hated the much and filth around and the strong words therefore. I have some more interesting shots of the day. Watch the space. I sure wanna have some feedback on them.

@kaushal - Thanks for your comment. There are bits in this shot which are nice. I liked the people...as I said to someone, i wouldnt have shot if there were none. I am posting more now. The cliched Decisive Moment. :) Let me know what you think.
