Mumbai has a new landmark

The new landmark in Mumbai

Mumbai has got a  new landmark and a rather unexpected one. MV Wisdom was on its last sail, being tugged away to Alang Shipyard. Alang, the dreaded graveyard for old and broken ships awaited the arrival quiet hopefully, am sure. But Wisdom had other plans. It broke up with the tug boat that was to tow it all the way and drifted off, where else, but Mumbai. After scaring daylights out of the city, when it was poised to dash against the Bandra Worli Sea Link, it finally found home in Juhu. Just a few hundred yards away from the bungalows on the beach. Am sure some of the residents would have got the shock of life to see this monster one fine day. Hope you enjoy the sight.

Some other mundane stuff
Converted to black & white in camera, sel adjustments of contrasts and added some grain :-) love the film feel.

Thank you cloudnine :-) as of now the juhu beach dwellers do not know whether they should enjoy their good luck (that it didnt hit them) or hate the traffic thats all over em.

cool one and the people in the foreground helps in showing its massiveness!

I wonder, then, if it will just stay there as an attraction, or of further attempts will be made to tow it away. The shot itself is most impressive. The well judged tonal qualities emphasise the massiveness of the ship. That plus the crowded shoreline and low horizon make this a truly dramatic image. I'm about to tweet it here: @andrewgphotos

Yep that was the idea! :-)

2 futile attempts have been made to tow it away. I am told that they will
try this again on 3rd July when the tides are high enough. Till then i
guess, it would continue to draw fancy of the people here.
